Looking back on 2020, we are grateful.
While there was stagnation in the farm’s yield, due to corona, there was mostly a lot of progress.
The team has stayed healthy and likes to work on the farm and we have a new motivated couple living on the farm.
The goats are now healthy after a period of illness. There are regularly new goats born. And every now and then goats are sold despite the obstacles due to corona.
There are more types of crops and also better quality grass in the yard to take care of a varied diet for the goats, and the team has started to create food pits. A start has also been made on keeping quail for sale. That’s how the whole Farm of Nambikay has become more organic and got an increase in deversity.
A large number of fruit trees, such as mangoes and coconuts, started bearing fruit for the first time in 2020. More fruit trees have also been planted.
We focused more on growing organic vegetables to be sold, such as eggplant, okra, beans and chili. In addition, the past year has been with new energy started to set up a good model vegetable garden, as an example for the villages in the surroundings. For example, they can learn how to grow fruit and vegetables at their own home, without using fertilizers and chemical sprays. This initially for it own household and what is left for sale.
We would like to expand this further in 2021, by coaching villagers in getting started and maintaining such a vegetable garden.
Because there was less income, there were fewer project activities in 2020. We hope that profit will be made again in 2021 so that we can do this again hand out to vulnerable families!
What we also look back on with pleasure and great gratitude is the concert by Grace & Glory. What a festive evening that was! And also with a wonderful yield more solar panels on the farm! In 2020, the solar panels which placed on the roof at the end of 2019, were connected to the energy grid an so from 2021 the farm will have less energy costs as a result.
At the same time, there is also a green light from the government for the connection of the extra solar panels, this is planned for the first months of 2021!
All in all, a lot has happened on the farm in the past year and we hope in this to continue working under God’s blessing in the new year.
